Dept. of Computer Science, Amritapuri Campus
The Department of Computer Science is one of the largest and well established centres of learning computer science in South India offering B.Tech, B.Tech Honours, M.Tech, BCA, MCA and Ph.D. programs. Experienced and highly qualified faculty members facilitate the students to achieve a high level knowledge and skills on recent trends in computing.
The department has close association with reputed institutions in India and abroad (SUNY Buffalo, VU, UC Davis etc) to support students in their academics and final projects as internship. Through this rapport, students also get opportunities to learn conventional as well as emerging areas in core computer science.
Department has well established research centers carrying out real time projects in different areas in computer science, funded by the industry and the government. Research environment at campus is an added advantage for one who seeks career in teaching and research, after the post-graduation.
Every year, the department also hosts the Asia Regional Finals of highly prestigious programming contest ACM-ICPC which is known as the “Olympics of Programming Contest”.
Amrita Cyber Security Research Center
Amrita Center for Cyber Security Systems and Networks (ACCS) promote partnership between industry, academia and the government to foster innovative research and education in Cyber Security, thus enhancing knowledge, deriving solutions, benefiting society and mitigating risks. The Center is supported by the Government of India through many of its Departments and Mission REACH programs.
ACCS is a pioneer in cyber security education in India, offering Masters and PhD programs in the area of cyber security. ACCS also started India’s first Capture the Flag Contest in 2010. ACCS has a student team, bi0s, which is currently India’s number 1 cyber security team based on the contests held throughout last year.
Capture the Flag contest is a way to help develop interest and skills in the area of cyber security and is now widely used throughout the world. In 2015, ACCS also started a CTF contest for school students in India called the Junior InCTF (InCTFj) followed by CyberGurukulam which is a 6 day intensive training program in cyber security for school students in India. 1000s of students all over India have benefited from these initiatives.
